Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Go-based services.
- Drive technical architecture and plan for system scalability, maintenance, and long-term health.
- Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver high-impact features.
- Participate in system design reviews and contribute to engineering strategy.
- Own code quality, reliability, and observability from development through production.
- Plan and execute projects from inception to delivery.
- Mentor peers and junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and take responsibility for production systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with modern programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, Ruby, or C#; Go is preferred or candidates should be willing to learn it.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and inter-service communication, including technologies such as protobuf/gRPC, REST, and NSQ.
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Preferred experience deploying and maintaining services in cloud environments, especially Google Cloud Platform.
- Preferred familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, observability tooling, and service reliability.
- Preferred experience with protobuf/gRPC or Temporal and breaking monoliths into microservices.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, explain complex systems to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and mentor teammates.
