Base Salary
$143k - $186k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and operate scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud-native database platforms on AWS.
- Build automated self-service capabilities using Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows.
- Define reusable platform patterns, standards, and guardrails across a multi-cloud environment.
- Embed observability, performance tuning, incident response, identity and access management, and data protection into platform operations.
- Drive cloud cost transparency and optimization through FinOps practices such as tagging, attribution, and rightsizing.
- Partner with architecture, application, data, cloud, and security teams to deliver practical platform solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship and lead design and architecture reviews.
- Evaluate emerging database technologies and support AI and analytics use cases through modern database platform capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8 to 10 years of experience in database, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
- Production experience with PostgreSQL and AWS-managed database services such as DynamoDB and OpenSearch.
- Experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation.
- Strong understanding of database performance at scale, including query performance, indexing, and data distribution.
- Experience with multiple cloud providers, preferably Azure or GCP alongside AWS.
- Familiarity with graph, document, or NoSQL databases such as Neptune, DocumentDB, or MongoDB.
- Preferred experience with vector search or pgvector, Databricks or BigQuery, RAG pipelines, embedding stores, and modern AI data architectures.
- Working knowledge of cloud security, FinOps, SRE, or enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
- Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to architecture reviews is preferred.
- Relational database experience with MSSQL or Oracle is useful but not the primary focus.

- Base salary range is $143,000 to $186,330 annually, with bonus and retirement contributions described separately.
