Responsibilities
- Investigate field-reported anomalies across vehicle software subsystems and identify their true root causes.
- Replay recorded sensor and mission data through live pipelines and visualization tooling to reproduce failures.
- Use service metrics, dashboards, and centralized logs to reconstruct system state during incidents.
- Implement and test fixes in the relevant subsystem using Rust, C++, Python, or Go.
- Validate fixes in simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments before vehicle deployment.
- Distinguish software bugs from configuration and deployment issues and correct problems at the appropriate layer.
- Document root causes and fixes, identify recurring subsystem failures and missing tests, and help develop on-call and triage runbooks.
- Coordinate with owning teams when the correct resolution requires subsystem or roadmap changes.
Requirements
- Experience debugging code written by others under time pressure and with incomplete information.
- Working ability in at least two of Rust, modern C++, Python, and Go.
- Systems-debugging skills using logs, metrics, and offline reproduction from recorded data.
- Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus/Grafana-class metrics and Loki/ELK-class logs.
- Linux and systems fluency.
- Clear technical writing focused on explaining causes and fixes.
- Willingness to work near hardware and sensors without requiring prior maritime or robotics experience.
- Willingness to travel 25% or more on average.
- Robotics middleware, sensor-driver, real-time data-pipeline, simulation-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, embedded CI/CD, versioned deployment, on-call, or field-support experience is preferred.
