Responsibilities
- Design and implement core banking product logic for accounts, deposits, lending, fees, interest, limits, delinquency, and lifecycle events.
- Build accurate, auditable, idempotent ledger-posting logic aligned with accounting principles.
- Configure product parameters, lifecycle states, financial events, schedules, and contract-style logic using Thought Machine Vault or an equivalent framework.
- Develop integration services and APIs for payments, KYC, CRM, general ledger, data and analytics, fraud, and notification systems.
- Implement event-driven integrations with error handling, retries, reconciliation, and observability.
- Develop data models, reporting extracts, and controls for Finance, Risk, and regulatory needs.
- Write unit, integration, and contract tests for financial logic, including edge cases and reconciliation scenarios.
- Support controlled product releases, troubleshoot production issues, maintain runbooks and technical documentation, and contribute to reusable engineering components.
- Partner with Product Owners, subject-matter experts, engineering, operations, security, risk, and other stakeholders to deliver compliant banking capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience developing APIs or integration services in regulated enterprise environments.
- BA or MBA in IT, or 10+ years of experience in integration technology and core banking.
- Direct experience delivering core banking products using Thought Machine Vault or a comparable modern core or ledger platform.
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, ledgers, postings, balances, reconciliation, financial controls, and auditability.
- Experience implementing fees, interest, limits, repayment schedules, lifecycle events, payments, card processing, or transaction monitoring patterns.
- Experience with test automation for financial logic, such as golden datasets, reconciliation harnesses, and simulation testing.
- Strong software engineering experience with one or more of Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, or a similar language.
- Experience building APIs and integration services using REST or gRPC and familiarity with event-driven architecture such as Kafka.
- Knowledge of software design principles, Git, testing practices, cloud-native environments, containers, observability, debugging, and incident response.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker; data platforms such as SQL, Snowflake, or BigQuery; and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting, audit trails, model governance, policy-as-code, data privacy, retention requirements, and operational controls.
- Banking domain knowledge including SEPA or SWIFT payments, card processing, transaction monitoring, AML/KYC, and customer onboarding is preferred.
- Exposure to Thought Machine, 10X, service mesh technologies, zero-trust patterns, TOGAF, enterprise integration architecture, or API product management is preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, relationship management, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with third parties and regulators.
- Ability to operate with professionalism, integrity, diligence, adaptability, and accountability in a regulated environment.
