Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable infrastructure with development teams.
- Build and maintain automated deployment and testing pipelines.
- Develop monitoring and alerting systems to identify issues proactively.
- Troubleshoot and escalate production incidents to minimize downtime.
- Improve infrastructure, processes, scalability, efficiency, security posture, and compliance.
- Participate in and own on-call rotations providing 24/7 application support.
- Perform routine system maintenance and upgrades.
- Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers.
- Track site reliability engineering trends and share knowledge with the team.
- Identify organizational improvements and propose alternatives for team structures and execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in high-traffic, high-availability environments.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Ruby, Java, or Go.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and technologies such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Nagios.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, networks, and computer science fundamentals.
- Database and query tuning experience, backend technology familiarity, technical leadership, and experience driving organizational change are preferred.
