Responsibilities
- Contribute to problem management through evidence collection, timeline building, root-cause analysis, and action items.
- Build and enhance health checks, data collection scripts, configuration validation, and other operational automation using Python, Shell scripting, and Ansible.
- Participate in incident management for network services, including monitoring, triage, troubleshooting, mitigation support, and escalation.
- Identify and eliminate operational toil through systems engineering and application-code improvements.
- Support and troubleshoot routing and switching, firewalls, load balancers, proxies, SD-WAN, SDA, and software-defined networking environments.
- Apply site reliability engineering practices, including reliability improvement, toil reduction, operational readiness, NFRs, FMEA concepts, observability, and SLO outcomes.
- Use and validate enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for incident triage, troubleshooting, post-incident analysis, runbook drafting, and identification of recurring reliability risks.
- Support adoption of SRE best practices and complete the SRE Bar Raiser Program.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in site reliability concepts and 2+ years of applied experience.
- Experience or strong exposure to network operations and incident/problem management practices.
- Hands-on automation experience with Python and/or Shell and Ansible.
- Practical troubleshooting experience with routing and switching and at least one of firewalls, load balancers, or proxies.
- Working knowledge of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for SRE workflows, including validation of recommendations and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Ability to assess AI-assisted operational recommendations for correctness and risk and apply controls supporting resiliency, security, and auditability.
- Experience maintaining cloud-based infrastructure.
- Familiarity with site reliability concepts, principles, practices, observability, white- and black-box monitoring, SLO alerting, and telemetry collection.
- Familiarity with containers or a common server operating system such as Linux or Windows.
- Emerging knowledge of continuous integration, continuous delivery, and related tooling.
- Preferred: exposure to Cisco ACI/Fabrics, CCNA or other vendor certifications, and experience in a financial institution environment.
