Base Salary
$180k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own, maintain, and improve data-intensive Python backend and occasional full-stack services and applications.
- Partner with quantum engineers and fabrication engineers to understand needs and deliver scalable, sustainable software.
- Maintain data integrity through schema migrations, client compatibility, testing, and related system improvements.
- Measure and improve workflow performance and platform observability.
- Build frameworks, guardrails, and patterns that help scientists and engineers use AI coding agents safely and sustainably.
- Communicate priorities and roadmap, and mentor and collaborate with other engineers.
Requirements
- Strong Python experience building and running production backend or serving systems.
- Experience working effectively in large, evolving codebases.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases; PostgreSQL experience is preferred.
- Experience with AWS and cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and Grafana or equivalents.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with scientists or other deeply technical peers.
- Ability to understand user problems, define solutions, and drive work independently.
- Curiosity about quantum computing; backgrounds in scientific computing, data science, AI/ML tooling, HPC, national labs, semiconductors, hardware-focused R&D, DevOps, SRE, cloud engineering, frontend, or data visualization are beneficial.
