Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and data models in Ruby on Rails.
- Own and deliver growth initiatives from concept through launch and iteration.
- Build customer-facing product experiences across the Homebase platform.
- Contribute to React and TypeScript applications to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Design, build, and evaluate experiments to improve activation, engagement, and retention.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities.
- Leverage analytics and experimentation data to inform product decisions.
- Implement and improve experimentation frameworks and growth tooling.
- Use AI tools to enhance engineering velocity and team effectiveness.
- Drive technical quality through testing, code reviews, and operational excellence.
- Mentor junior engineers through collaboration and feedback.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of software engineering experience building customer-facing web applications.
- Strong experience with Ruby on Rails for backend systems.
- Working knowledge of React, TypeScript, and modern frontend practices.
- Ability to contribute across the stack while maintaining a backend-first focus.
- Strong product sense and ability to evaluate tradeoffs from customer and business perspectives.
- Experience using AI tools to improve engineering workflows.
- Experience collaborating with Product, Design, and Data teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to operate in ambiguity.
- Ability to collaborate in person at the Toronto hub on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
