Responsibilities

  • Lead enhancement and development of mission-critical mainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies.
  • Design, troubleshoot, and improve batch processing, CICS online applications, DB2 programs, JCL jobs, and complex batch workflows.
  • Coordinate production releases, deployments, post-release validation, scheduling, and job automation.
  • Investigate production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive solutions.
  • Provide technical direction, mentoring, code reviews, estimates, and development guidance to mainframe developers.
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, production support, and customer support teams.
  • Drive application modernization, automation, development-process improvements, and adherence to coding and security standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of mainframe development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading technical teams or serving as a technical lead.
  • Hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
  • Experience with batch processing, online transaction processing, batch scheduling, production support, incident management, release management, change management, and software development processes.
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Control-M, CA-7, or equivalent, and source-code management and deployment tools such as Endevor or Changeman.
  • Knowledge of debugging, performance tuning, file transfer, utilities, mainframe operations, and IBM z/OS.
  • Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and partners and supporting customer support teams with critical issues.
  • Preferred experience in financial services, credit, or data-driven enterprise environments; modern mainframe DevOps practices; distributed-system and API integration; and related IBM z/OS tools.
