Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain applications presenting detailed information about Getty collections and scholarship.
- Implement new software features and applications across Getty’s research applications portfolio.
- Develop and support frontend and backend software, including search interfaces, data-driven applications, design-system components, and rich-media experiences.
- Maintain, upgrade, test, and document existing applications and projects.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peer developers.
- Help estimate, plan, and execute major software initiatives across Getty.
- Collaborate with software developers, UX researchers, designers, and subject matter experts.
- Mentor teammates, share expertise, and promote software development best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- 2–5 years of software development experience.
- Experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as Vue.js or React, plus NPM and Vite.
- Expertise in Python and Flask, with working knowledge of frontend and backend coding practices.
- Experience with Vitest, Playwright, or other unit and end-to-end testing frameworks.
- Experience with 11ty or another static-site builder.
- Commitment to web and digital accessibility, including adherence to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Experience with Elasticsearch, dynamic data-driven web applications, RDF, Linked Data, and/or graph data structures.
- Experience with the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF).
- Deep understanding of museum, library, and archival practices, systems, and metadata standards.
- Experience building and deploying applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Tact, diplomacy, and strong interpersonal skills.
