Base Salary
$75k - $125k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and ship production AI features including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and model orchestration components.
- Create and maintain evaluation cases and test suites to detect regressions in AI system quality.
- Implement prompts, structured outputs, tool and function definitions, and guardrails based on evaluation results.
- Contribute to supporting services, APIs, data pipelines, instrumentation, logging, and dashboards.
- Investigate and resolve production issues involving latency, cost, quality regressions, and failed tool calls.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, post-incident analyses, documentation, and runbook maintenance.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data Science teams to turn requirements into working software and identify tradeoffs.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, or C#.
- Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs into applications, including prompting, structured outputs, and function or tool calling, through professional work, internships, or substantive personal projects.
- Working knowledge of backend fundamentals including REST APIs, databases, version control, testing, and debugging.
- Curiosity about real-world AI system behavior and a willingness to measure results.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and comfort asking for help and providing updates.
- Helpful experience includes Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, LangChain, vector databases, embedding models, semantic search, AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring, observability tooling, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Helpful qualifications also include responsible AI knowledge, open-source contributions, technical writing, or LLM-related side projects.
