Senior Platform Reliability Engineer

Base Salary
$182k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define frameworks and standards for SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, and operational readiness
- Identify gaps in metrics, logging, and tracing and improve service measurability and debuggability
- Develop incident-response practices from detection through post-incident learning
- Help teams build sustainable on-call and escalation patterns
- Partner with the platform team to build service scorecards, dashboards, templates, golden paths, and other self-service reliability tooling
- Drive adoption of reliability standards across engineering teams through education, influence, and developer-friendly systems
- Enable engineering teams to independently build and operate reliable systems at scale
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience operating and improving the reliability of production systems at scale
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes such as EKS, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
- Experience defining or working with SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, and reliability measurement practices
- Expertise with modern observability tooling, including DataDog, across metrics, logs, and traces
- Ability to identify cross-team and cross-service patterns and design scalable solutions
- Ability to influence and drive change across teams without direct authority
- Self-directed approach to defining problems, proposing solutions, and executing independently
- Strong collaboration, communication, empathy, mentoring, and learning skills
- Preferred experience scaling reliability practices in a growing organization
- Preferred experience building internal tooling or platforms used by multiple teams
- Preferred experience designing service-level scorecards or compliance and reporting systems
- Preferred experience with both SaaS and self-managed observability stacks
- Product engineering background and empathy for developer experience are a plus
- Experience with database reliability and performance, particularly PostgreSQL, is a plus
