Base Salary
$182k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define reliability standards and frameworks for SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, and operational readiness.
- Identify gaps in metrics, logging, and tracing and improve service measurability and debuggability.
- Develop and improve incident response practices from detection through post-incident learning.
- Help establish sustainable on-call and escalation patterns.
- Build self-service reliability tooling and abstractions such as service scorecards, dashboards, templates, and golden paths.
- Work cross-functionally to educate, influence, and guide engineering teams in adopting reliability practices.
- Enable teams to independently build and operate reliable systems at scale.
Requirements
- At least six years of experience operating and improving the reliability of production systems at scale.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes such as EKS, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Experience defining or working with SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets.
- Expertise with modern observability tooling, including metrics, logs, and traces; Grow uses Datadog.
- Ability to identify patterns across teams and services and design scalable solutions.
- Ability to influence and drive change across teams without direct authority.
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and define, propose, and execute solutions.
- Strong collaboration, communication, empathy, mentoring, and learning skills.
- Bonus: experience introducing or scaling reliability practices in a growing organization.
- Bonus: experience building internal tooling or platforms used by multiple teams.
- Bonus: experience designing service-level scorecards or compliance and reporting systems.
- Bonus: experience with SaaS and self-managed observability stacks.
- Bonus: prior product engineering experience and empathy for developer experience.
- Bonus: experience with database reliability and performance, particularly PostgreSQL.
