Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritise AI transformation opportunities with Digital Transformation teams and business stakeholders.
- Design, deliver, and support generative AI solutions, including retrieval augmented generation and agentic models, across EMEA business areas.
- Evaluate AI models, platforms, vendors, and delivery approaches based on business value, cost, risk, strategic alignment, and supportability.
- Follow MUFG’s systems delivery lifecycle, governance, documentation, release readiness, risk management, and reporting processes.
- Define architectural principles, engineering standards, reusable patterns, quality controls, and technical reference architectures for AI solutions.
- Provide L1, L2, and L3 support for AI Engineering services and ensure operational reliability.
- Track project outcomes, costs, return on investment, and scalability using evidence-based methods.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, change management, privileged production access, and other organisational controls.
- Coach and mentor AI Engineering colleagues, share expertise, and build engineering capability and discipline.
- Establish peer networks, drive cross-team initiatives, and align AI delivery efforts globally.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in technology delivery or operations within AI engineering, machine learning, or data science environments.
- Proven experience delivering sophisticated AI solutions in large-scale enterprise environments, preferably regulated financial institutions.
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating advanced technical proficiency.
- Experience building custom generative AI solutions on Azure or AWS, with deep familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, prompt engineering, and model evaluation frameworks.
- Strong understanding of structured SDLC processes, Secure by Design, Architecture Review Board governance, Data Protection Impact Assessments, CI/CD pipelines, and related controls.
- Ability to define technical standards and reference patterns, document architectural decisions, and assess alternative technologies, vendors, and delivery approaches.
- Understanding of security, privacy, responsible AI, data governance, and model risk considerations in regulated organisations.
- Expertise with orchestration, governance, and development tools including LangChain, LangGraph, Azure Foundry, Azure AI, MCP, and Python.
- Experience defining measurable outcomes and return on investment for AI projects using evidence-based methods.
- Experience providing first-, second-, and third-line support across multiple business areas.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, coaching, mentoring, and relationship-building skills.
