
Staff Software Engineer, Data (Employer of Record)

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale data pipelines across internal, third-party, and cloud-based source systems and streams.
- Extract, load, transform, acquire, and integrate data using cloud-native data engineering principles.
- Design scalable batch and streaming pipelines, data models, schemas, and lakehouse solutions.
- Drive application architecture, technical direction, coding standards, documentation standards, and engineering best practices.
- Write unit tests, validate software against acceptance criteria, lead code reviews, and document designs and projects.
- Analyze cross-application change impacts, debug production issues, and propose effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and align solutions with business outcomes.
- Mentor engineers, coach less experienced team members, participate in talent selection, and lead continuous learning activities.
- Participate in Agile practices, sprint commitments, process improvement, and technical experimentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience or comparable depth of experience, including recent experience building on cloud data platforms.
- Experience serving in a lead role overseeing the technical direction of a data engineering team.
- Strong understanding of one or more data engineering programming languages, such as Python, Java, or Scala.
- Experience with scalable batch and streaming pipelines, data modeling, schema design, and lakehouse principles.
- Experience with data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks and mission-critical enterprise applications.
- Preferred expertise in Apache Spark and working knowledge of Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, DLT, and Auto Loader.
- Preferred hands-on experience with AWS data services, including S3, Glue, Lambda, and MSK.
- Financial services or FinTech industry experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor engineers and communicate complex technical information to all organizational levels.
