Base Salary
$171k - $303k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop end-to-end perception capabilities for dynamic actor tracking, action and attribute recognition, and semantic understanding of traffic environments.
- Research and develop deep learning and machine learning models for highway, urban, long-range multi-sensor, and degraded-sensor scenarios.
- Design and implement object-tracking algorithms and systems using recursive state estimation, Hidden Markov models, structured prediction, and sequential models.
- Build and improve efficient pipelines for large-scale model training and data analysis.
- Translate on-road and simulated testing insights into robust, well-tested software solutions.
- Drive software development from prototype through production deployment on the real-time Aurora Driver platform.
- Contribute to perception architecture, scalability, efficiency, cross-functional collaboration, and failure-mode remediation.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with at least two years of relevant industry software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python for clean, scalable, efficient, production-quality software.
- Working knowledge of one or more machine learning areas, including deep learning, computer vision, recursive state estimation, structured prediction, or optimization.
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or other deep learning frameworks.
- Preferred experience deploying production-grade computer vision or machine learning models in real-time computing environments.
- Preferred knowledge of linear algebra, discrete and continuous optimization, supervised and unsupervised methods, generative and discriminative methods, and Hidden Markov models.
- Preferred hands-on experience with VLMs, foundational models, world models, CUDA, or high-performance GPU programming.
- Preferred publications in top-tier robotics or computer vision venues, relevant robotics/computer vision/self-driving industry experience, ML workflow automation, training-pipeline optimization, or open-source contributions.

- Eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
- Base salary range is $189,000-$303,000 per year in Mountain View, CA and Seattle, WA, or $171,000-$273,000 per year in Pittsburgh, PA.
