Responsibilities
- Embed with one or two portfolio companies at a time to understand their operating models and identify areas of leverage.
- Select two or three high-impact workflows where agentic software can improve the business.
- Build and deploy integrations, prompts, evaluations, workflows, and UI surfaces for the initial agentic solution.
- Operate deployed systems, monitor outcomes, tune prompts, adjust autonomy tiers, and hand off stable workflows to portfolio operations.
- Bring deployment patterns back to Beacon headquarters and codify them into reusable playbooks for other portfolio companies.
- Serve as Beacon’s technical face to the portfolio-company GM and manage the deployment relationship.
Requirements
- Strong generalist engineering ability with full-stack TypeScript or Python backend development, React frontend experience, and fluent SQL skills.
- Experience shipping real software using foundation models, including writing evaluations, deciding when to fine-tune, and managing agent autonomy.
- Ability to work autonomously in unfamiliar codebases and operate as the primary Beacon engineer embedded with a portfolio company.
- Customer-oriented approach and ability to build trust with GMs, operators, and customer success leaders.
- Business and operator judgment, including ability to read a P&L and prioritize measurable business outcomes.
- Strong written communication skills for producing deployment memos, updates, retrospectives, and reusable playbooks.
- Prior FDE experience is a bonus.
- PE, consulting, or M&A diligence exposure is a bonus, particularly post-LOI integration experience.
- Experience with Iceberg-based data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks and event-driven systems is a bonus.
- Production experience operating agentic systems, including evaluations, autonomy gating, and outcome tracking, is a bonus.
