Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own customer engagements end to end, including discovery, technical problem definition, solution planning, implementation, validation, and production adoption.
- Design and implement automation, configuration, provisioning logic, integrations, and reference implementations alongside customer engineers.
- Diagnose Windows developer-platform friction involving WSL, containers, virtualization, provisioning, toolchains, build performance, CI, inner-loop latency, identity, security, and endpoint policies.
- Build production-deployed configuration baselines, provisioning automation, diagnostic tooling, and reference environments.
- Provide evidence and technical feedback to Windows, WSL, developer tooling, and security product teams, and drive fixes, supportability improvements, and telemetry through shipping.
- Convert customer-specific solutions into reusable playbooks, reference configurations, tooling, and guidance.
- Demonstrate adoption through production workloads, telemetry, customer evidence, and agreed success measures.
- Build trusted relationships and communicate findings, tradeoffs, risks, and progress to customers, Microsoft teams, and executives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience involving coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security-screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
- Preferred production experience building or deploying LLM-powered systems, including agents, prompt and context engineering, evaluation frameworks, tool or MCP integration, and large-scale deployment.
- Preferred strong Python programming ability plus at least one of TypeScript, C#, Rust, Go, C, or C++.
- Preferred customer-facing engineering experience in forward-deployed engineering, field engineering, technical consulting, escalation engineering, solutions architecture, or technical founding roles.
- Preferred knowledge of the Windows developer platform, including WSL, containers, virtualization, developer environments, toolchains, build performance, local inference, hardware acceleration, security, and enterprise policy controls.
- Preferred experience diagnosing performance and reliability issues using telemetry, traces, profiling, Windows Performance Analyzer, or comparable tools.
- Preferred ability to turn customer-specific solutions into repeatable solutions and influence product planning with technical evidence and business impact.
- Familiarity with WinUI, WPF, .NET desktop, and application modernization is valuable but not required.
