Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and actively drive the migration of the company’s new data platform using Dagster, dbt, AWS ECS, and Google BigQuery.
- Develop platform capabilities such as monitoring, data checks, connectors, cost control, testing, CI/CD, and data cataloging for other data teams.
- Maintain and optimize the company’s largest and most business-critical ELT pipelines.
- Move terabytes of data nightly from MySQL on AWS to Google BigQuery and perform daytime synchronizations without negatively affecting source-system performance.
- Own the company’s most critical reports used by the Executive Board and data teams across other departments.
- Act as a multiplier and enablement partner for other engineering teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on Data Engineering and Software Engineering experience with high-volume, business-critical pipelines.
- Experience building and maintaining modern data platforms and supporting other engineering teams.
- Deep practical experience with Dagster, dbt, Google BigQuery, and AWS ECS.
- Strong Software Engineering foundations, including CI/CD, testing, best practices, and design patterns applied to Data Engineering.
- Expert-level SQL and Python skills.
- Knowledge of infrastructure setups using Docker and Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of Data Engineering best practices combined with pragmatic delivery judgment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex processes clearly to varied stakeholders.
- Business-fluent English communication skills.
