Responsibilities
- Write production Java that is tested, readable, and maintainable.
- Contribute to design discussions and technical decisions for cloud-native trading APIs.
- Deploy and operate services in AWS.
- Investigate production issues using logs, metrics, traces, thread dumps, heap dumps, profiling, and JVM diagnostics.
- Analyze memory management, garbage collection, concurrency, contention, and performance problems.
- Use AI-assisted development tools while critically reviewing generated code.
- Grow into deeper ownership of services.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional Java development experience, including hands-on AWS experience.
- Solid commercial experience writing Java in production environments.
- Understanding of JVM runtime behavior, memory management, garbage collection, the Java memory model, and threading.
- Working knowledge of concurrency and multithreading, including visibility problems, contention, and load-related failures.
- Practical JVM diagnostic skills, including thread and heap dumps, GC analysis, profiling, memory-leak investigation, and contention analysis.
- Experience with the Spring Framework, ideally Spring Boot.
- Hands-on AWS experience deploying and debugging real cloud systems.
- Practical experience using AI coding tools and critically evaluating their output.
- Comfort with Linux and basic shell scripting.
- Curiosity, persistence, and willingness to ask questions early and often.
