Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable backend services, APIs, and data models for the access control platform.
- Build and improve communication layers connecting cloud services to panels, readers, locks, and other access-control hardware.
- Implement device configuration, firmware update, and real-time event-processing flows.
- Develop full-stack features, including web front-end functionality when required.
- Drive technical projects end to end, make architectural decisions, guide design reviews, and ensure scalability, security, and performance.
- Mentor engineers, support onboarding, conduct code reviews and design discussions, and improve code quality standards.
- Participate in requirements gathering, deployment, production monitoring, testing, and the broader development lifecycle.
- Work directly with physical access-control hardware to develop, test, and debug device integrations.
- Collaborate with product managers, hardware and device engineers, and software teams across time zones.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience delivering complex projects.
- Advanced object-oriented programming skills, preferably in C#.
- Strong experience with database design, SQL, and backend services.
- Proficiency with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Ember.js, Angular, or React is a plus.
- Experience in IoT or home automation is a plus.
- Experience implementing and improving unit testing and automated testing strategies.
- Experience with distributed systems, real-time communications, or high-performance applications.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional collaboration.
