Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and deploy Roku’s cloud platform and service mesh.
- Build and own compute solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, Istio/Envoy, Terraform, and scripting.
- Research and implement technologies that improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience.
- Integrate security best practices into infrastructure design and automation.
- Build tooling to visualize inefficiencies and optimize costs across shared-tenancy clusters.
- Collaborate with internal teams to migrate workloads to Kubernetes and Istio using open-source observability tools.
- Scale monitoring and logging solutions with the Observability team.
- Apply SRE principles to maintain high availability and streamline onboarding workflows.
- Mentor team members and define best practices for infrastructure and automation.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud technologies, especially AWS; GCP or Azure experience is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, including EKS, GKE, AKS, or similar platforms, and service mesh technologies.
- Proficiency in Go or another programming language and Python or another scripting language.
- Experience designing infrastructure, building automation tools, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and following modern deployment practices.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Grafana, or similar observability tools.
- Ability to work independently and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience integrating AI tools to improve processes and reduce operational toil is a plus.
- Fluency with agentic engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks, including verifying agent output and shipping work with these tools.
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience; 8+ years is preferred.
