Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and troubleshoot secure, resilient, scalable, and fault-tolerant software services.
  • Use enterprise-authorized AI coding assistance and automation tools while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
  • Implement backend infrastructure patterns such as load balancing and autoscaling, along with monitoring and alerting for performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Analyze large and diverse datasets, create visualizations and reports, and use insights to improve software quality and system architecture.
  • Define guardrails and evaluation approaches for production agentic AI to meet quality, safety, latency, and cost requirements.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, manage multiple deliverables, and collaborate with users, subject-matter experts, architects, DBAs, and system administrators.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in computer science or software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on software development experience in large-scale distributed systems, primarily using Java, modern Java/Spring Boot microservices, and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and critically evaluating and refining their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, and resiliency and security expectations.
  • Strong experience with REST APIs, service-oriented and microservices architecture, Spark, SQL, and big data performance optimization.
  • Experience building, deploying, and operating production services with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with AWS services and tooling including Terraform, EMR, EKS/ECS, Lambda, RDS, and S3.
  • Experience with log analytics and observability tools such as Splunk, AWS CloudWatch, and Datadog.
  • Experience with Scala is preferred; exposure to Snowflake, Databricks, or Iceberg is also preferred.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
