Responsibilities
- Develop machine learning models supporting ranking, retrieval, recommendation, and generative AI use cases.
- Build application features, services, API methods, data pipelines, and ML feature-management systems.
- Lead or substantially contribute to large, cross-functional projects with significant business impact.
- Own features and systems, define their long-term health, and improve surrounding systems.
- Assist support and operations teams with production issue triage and resolution.
- Mentor engineers, conduct deep code reviews, and improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to build Slack features.
Requirements
- Experience with functional or imperative programming languages including PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, C, Scala, or Java.
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, XGBoost, or scikit-learn.
- Experience building batch data-processing pipelines with tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, EMR, MapReduce, Airflow, Dagster, or Luigi.
- Experience fine-tuning LLMs or BERT models and deploying ML models or other data-derived artifacts at scale.
- Ability to measure success for complex ML and AI products and apply strong analytical and data-driven reasoning.
- Experience leading technical architecture discussions and driving technical decisions.
- Ability to write understandable, testable, maintainable code and explain complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
- Preferred qualifications include expertise in conversational agentic systems, retrieval systems, search algorithms, vector databases, embeddings, RAG solutions, NLP, machine learning, and generative AI.

- For Ontario-based roles, the stated base salary range is CAD 130,300 to CAD 179,200 annually, excluding bonus, sales incentives, equity, and benefits.
