
Software Engineer II, Machine Learning - Slack
InformaticaResponsibilities
- Develop machine learning models for ranking, retrieval, and generative AI use cases.
- Design and implement product features, services, API methods, and models for Slack.
- Build sustainable data collection pipelines and manage ML features.
- Lead or make substantial contributions to large cross-functional projects with significant business impact.
- Own features or systems, define their long-term health, and improve surrounding systems.
- Assist support and operations teams with production issue triage and resolution.
- Mentor engineers, conduct deep code reviews, and improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to conceptualize and build product features.
Requirements
- Experience with PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, C, Scala, or Java.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, XGBoost, or scikit-learn.
- Experience building batch data processing pipelines with tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, EMR, MapReduce, Airflow, Dagster, or Luigi.
- Experience fine-tuning LLMs or BERT models.
- Experience deploying machine learning models or other data-derived artifacts into production at scale.
- Ability to lead technical architecture discussions and drive technical decisions.
- Ability to write understandable, testable, maintainable code.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-engineering specialists.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
- Preferred: expertise in conversational agentic systems, retrieval systems, search algorithms, vector databases, embeddings, structured and unstructured data, knowledge graphs, RAG solutions, NLP, machine learning, and generative AI.
