Responsibilities
- Design and implement an enterprise Developer Portal using Backstage.
- Build and maintain Backstage plugins, scaffolder templates, scaffolder actions, and workflow automation.
- Develop a blueprint orchestration layer integrated with enterprise systems.
- Integrate Backstage with Jenkins, Terraform, Vault, ArgoCD, GitHub or Bitbucket, infrastructure, CI/CD, and security tooling.
- Define software catalog structures, ownership models, taxonomy, metadata standards, lifecycle models, and blueprint concepts.
- Enable self-service environment provisioning and improve developer experience for application and platform teams.
- Implement RBAC, authentication, authorization, OAuth, SSO, and enterprise identity integrations.
- Drive API-first orchestration across platform services and reusable enterprise capabilities.
- Collaborate with platform, cloud, infrastructure, application, security, architecture, engineering, and operations teams.
- Establish best practices for platform engineering, internal developer portals, blueprint lifecycle management, and developer experience.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant experience is required; the role also specifies a minimum of 7 years in software engineering, platform engineering, or related technology delivery.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, with equivalent experience accepted.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver production-ready platform capabilities with architecture, engineering, security, and operations teams.
- Hands-on experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, identity integration, API automation, and cloud-native platforms.
- Strong expertise in Backstage development and internal developer portal implementation.
- Experience building custom Backstage plugins, templates, scaffolder actions, and scaffolder workflows.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and React.
- Experience integrating Backstage with Jenkins, Terraform, TechRadar, GitHub or Bitbucket, Vault, ArgoCD, and related workflows.
- Understanding of developer self-service platforms, internal developer portals, platform engineering, API-driven orchestration, workflow automation, and reusable blueprints.
- Experience implementing RBAC and enterprise authentication patterns including OAuth and SSO.
- Preferred experience includes integrating Backstage with Kubernetes or OpenShift in AWS.
- Familiarity with platform engineering operating models, golden paths, paved roads, developer experience metrics, and complex enterprise governance requirements.
- Financial services experience is preferred but not required.
