Responsibilities

  • Develop tactical autonomy software for unmanned platforms operating across air, land, sea, and space domains.
  • Implement and test behaviors for multi-agent coordination, target engagement, reconnaissance, motion planning, and survivability.
  • Work across the full software development lifecycle from requirements capture through design, implementation, verification, and validation.
  • Architect scalable, reusable behavior software subsystems and contribute to product-line technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with vehicle integration teams, external engineering groups, and operational subject matter experts to align system interfaces and deliver capabilities.
  • Act as a software engineering subject matter expert and represent software priorities in multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Serve as the technical owner for a software system, including requirements, roadmap management, coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, set technical direction, mentor junior engineers, and travel to co-locate with end users or other teams up to 20% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software subsystem scheduling and integration, behavior planning, task and resource allocation, motion planning, optimization, flight controls, or related areas.
  • Proficiency in production-level C++ software development.
  • Experience with collaborative software development tools for version control, issue tracking, code reviews, and release management.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, set technical direction, and manage projects from concept through deployment.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members, build team cohesion, and serve as technical owner for an entire software system.
  • Preferred experience includes bridging research-grade concepts to operationally ready systems across technology readiness levels.
  • Preferred experience includes mission systems integration, integration events, flight demonstrations, collaborative mission planning, synchronized teaming, tactics, motion planning, target assignment, collision avoidance, geofencing, safety monitoring, and multiple operational domains.
  • Preferred experience includes FOSS robotics software such as ROS and OMPL, simulation tools such as AFSIM and NGTS, navigation and communications systems, systems engineering methodologies, and high-assurance processes such as DO-178C or equivalent MIL-STD standards.
