Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate services for inbound and outbound call control, BXML processing, webhooks, and real-time media.
- Contribute to REST APIs and SDKs across Node, Python, Java, and other languages.
- Ship voice features including conferencing, TTS/IVR, call recording, transcription, and answering machine detection.
- Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of high-volume, low-latency voice infrastructure.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, on-call rotations, testing, and documentation.
- Use AI tools during development while maintaining security, style, and compliance standards.
Requirements
- Have 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with distributed systems or APIs operating at scale.
- Be proficient in Java or a comparable statically typed language and comfortable with REST APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous or event-driven systems.
- Have familiarity with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure and SQL or relational data stores.
- Demonstrate strong debugging and analytical skills for tracing issues through multi-service, real-time systems.
- Communicate clearly and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with WebRTC, SIP, RTP/media streaming, VoIP, Datadog, Terraform, GitHub Actions, high-throughput systems, low-latency systems, or telecom/CPaaS platforms is a bonus.
- Prior telecom or real-time media experience is helpful but not required.
