Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain internal review and enforcement tooling for Safeguards analysts.
- Understand user workflows and establish tooling for well-defined processes.
- Develop reusable APIs, data storage, and backend services for quick and safe review workflows.
- Partner with operations and policy teams to translate reviewer pain points into product improvements.
- Integrate tooling with detection systems and enforcement infrastructure.
- Implement guardrails for sensitive internal tools, including permissions and data-access controls.
- Instrument tools to surface metrics on queue health and decision quality.
- Contribute to the Foundations team's shared platform and on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer, focusing on internal tools or operations platforms.
- Comfortable using coding tools like Claude Code to produce high-quality software.
- Product-minded approach to internal users, with a focus on usability.
- Results-oriented with a bias towards flexibility and impact.
- Ability to communicate technical trade-offs to non-engineering stakeholders.
- Commitment to societal impacts of engineering work, particularly in AI safety.
