Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex software enhancements, applications, and solutions for Charles River IMS.
- Modify core frameworks and primary facilities critical to system operation while driving technical excellence and product architecture.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create simple, sustainable solutions for complex business and technical problems.
- Direct problem solving for major projects or project phases and provide expert troubleshooting for mission-critical client implementations.
- Develop and maintain software using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, and related programming languages.
- Work with cloud-native services, microservice architectures, Kubernetes, Kafka, message-based systems, and related technologies.
- Provide informed guidance and critical analysis during code reviews.
- Write unit and automation tests, conduct manual testing, and improve development and test methodologies.
- Support customer support teams and other development teams with engineering troubleshooting assistance.
- Participate in scrum activities including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and cross-team coordination.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 13 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience is required.
- At least 6 years of financial-services software development experience in areas such as Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR, or Wealth Management is strongly desired.
- Authoritative experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases, scripting, and advanced programming languages.
- Experience designing and developing simple solutions to highly complex business and technical problems, including multi-tiered high-performance database applications.
- At least 5 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology.
- Experience with cloud-native services, microservice architectures, Kubernetes, Kafka, and message-based systems; Azure experience is a bonus.
- Snowflake experience is a strong asset, and SQL experience is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and software architecture skills.
