Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and architectural standards across membership growth, retention, benefits, experimentation, and platform infrastructure pillars.
- Design and evolve large-scale distributed systems for membership lifecycle management, benefits eligibility and fulfillment, savings computation, and real-time personalization.
- Lead complex, multi-team technical initiatives involving Rides, Delivery, Grocery, Payments, Pricing, Fares, and Fulfillment Engineering teams.
- Build instrumentation and use experimentation, OKRs, and data analysis to optimize membership coverage, conversion, engagement, and savings delivery.
- Architect highly available, low-latency systems handling millions of membership checks, benefits applications, and personalized offer computations.
- Mentor Senior and Staff engineers and raise engineering standards across a 70+ engineer organization.
- Partner with Product Management, Data Science, Marketing, and business leadership to translate growth objectives into engineering roadmaps.
- Deliver and review technical designs, code, and documentation while championing service architecture, data management, deployment, and operational best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production systems.
- Strong expertise in backend development, distributed systems, and large-scale low-latency system design.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-team technical initiatives with significant cross-organizational dependencies.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Data Science, Marketing, and business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to mentor and elevate Senior and Staff-level engineers.
- Preferred experience with membership, subscription, or loyalty platforms; large engineering organizations; experimentation frameworks; pricing, personalization, or recommendation systems; multi-sided marketplaces; and systems spanning multiple business verticals.
- Preferred experience with full-stack consumer-facing product engineering, including backend services, APIs, and client integration points.
- Proficiency in Go, Java, or Python, with strong performance optimization and debugging foundations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfort with ambiguous high-impact problems, and familiarity with agentic AI patterns and LLM-powered systems.
