Base Salary
$405k - $485k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver complex, multi-month backend and product engineering projects.
- Design and operate reliable, scalable production systems serving hundreds of thousands of global users.
- Lead technical and product decisions, drive alignment across engineering, product, research, and other stakeholders, and mentor peers.
- Build backend systems, APIs, integrations, and platform capabilities across Anthropic’s API, Claude Code, and Claude.ai products.
- Translate frontier model improvements and research advances into shipped products and developer-facing capabilities.
- Help define team strategy and create processes that improve operational effectiveness and prevent recurring failures.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience as a backend or product engineer.
- Track record of leading complex, multi-month projects or teams as a tech lead or equivalent.
- Strong coding fundamentals and experience across backend systems, APIs, integrations, and, when needed, frontend work.
- Experience designing and delivering large-scale backend systems for high-adoption B2B or consumer-facing products.
- Experience with distributed systems, API design, and cloud infrastructure at scale.
- Ability to drive alignment across technical and non-technical teams, communicate clearly, influence decisions, and mentor peers.
- Product-focused approach with attention to robustness, scalability, usability, and navigating ambiguity.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
