Staff MCU Application Engineer
Renesas ElectronicsResponsibilities
- Develop, debug, test, and optimize embedded MCU firmware in C/C++ for bare-metal and RTOS environments.
- Provide hands-on application engineering and technical support for customers using Renesas MCU products.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend MCU products and solutions for end-user applications.
- Develop proof-of-concept solutions to demonstrate Renesas MCU capabilities.
- Collaborate with FAEs, marketing, and business unit engineering teams to support design-ins and customer escalations.
- Serve as a technical expert by providing guidance and training to internal teams and customers.
- Manage customer escalations and coordinate timely resolution of technical issues.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive products to inform MCU product roadmap recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 8 years of professional industry experience in embedded systems.
- Strong experience developing embedded MCU firmware in C/C++.
- Foundational understanding of CPU architecture and electronic circuits.
- Experience with RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS or Azure RTOS.
- Understanding of MCU peripherals and communication protocols including UART, SPI, I²C, PMBus, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Experience with IoT connectivity, server protocols, and security applications.
- Prior application engineering, field application engineering, or customer-facing engineering experience is preferred.
- Ability to engage customers primarily in Taiwan and collaborate with internal stakeholders across APAC.
- Strong written, verbal, English communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
