Base Salary
$150k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize high-leverage opportunities for AI to perform substantive legal work across product counseling, marketing reviews, contract review, negotiation, and regulatory compliance.
- Design, build, prototype, evaluate, and ship AI-powered assistants, agents, retrieval systems, and evaluators for legal teams.
- Connect AI tools to document repositories, knowledge bases, and internal sources within IT, Security, Privacy, and Legal Operations governance.
- Measure quality against human baselines, debug edge cases, tune prompts and pipelines, and maintain tools as models and legal requirements change.
- Onboard attorneys and end users, gather feedback, create documentation and training, and define where human judgment must remain involved.
- Build evaluation harnesses and metrics covering accuracy, hallucination rates, coverage, and latency.
- Partner with Legal leadership and Legal Operations to develop an AI-native legal roadmap and scale successful capabilities across teams and brands.
Requirements
- At least 4 years building, deploying, or applying AI products and tools, including at least 2 years of hands-on work with LLMs.
- Hands-on experience with prompting, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, and the basics of fine-tuning or model selection.
- Strong technical fluency, including building working systems in code or with AI coding tools, working with APIs and data, and reasoning about integrations, permissions, and guardrails.
- Track record of shipping products or tools to real users, learning from usage, and iterating.
- Excellent communication skills across legal, technical, and business audiences.
- Preferred experience building AI products in regulated, compliance-sensitive, or high-stakes domains such as legal, healthcare, financial services, or trust and safety.
- Preferred experience as a legal engineer, legal AI engineer, legal solutions architect, legal technologist, or applied AI engineer.
- Preferred experience building new capabilities within a defined team, measuring them rigorously, supporting multiple business units or brands, and making the case for broader rollout.
