Responsibilities
- Build paved paths and self-service tooling for Flexport engineers.
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines, build tooling, and artifact repositories.
- Improve backend and frontend developer experience through scoped platform projects.
- Contribute to GraphQL and gRPC middleware, federation, schema sharing, CLIs, code generation, servers, and clients.
- Contribute to IAM solutions and primitives that are secure and easy to use by default.
- Help engineers use and understand Kubernetes, ECS, OpenMetrics, and Datadog for operating and debugging services.
- Gather internal user feedback, define problem statements, prioritize work, and own projects through production rollout and impact measurement.
- Address technical debt, support migrations, write design documents, conduct developer interviews, and keep stakeholders informed.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of software engineering experience, ideally involving developer platforms, internal tooling, or infrastructure used by other engineers.
- Comfort working with backend services while building familiarity with frontend build pipelines, Kubernetes manifests, and CI configuration.
- Hands-on experience with some CI/CD system, container orchestrator, build tooling, backend-for-frontend technology, service-to-service communication, metrics, or artifact storage.
- Ability to understand user problems and broader goals, gather feedback, own projects, communicate clearly, and learn quickly.
- Preferred experience includes data-driven developer-experience work using DORA metrics, AWS, IAM concepts such as JWTs and OIDC, and Terraform.
