Responsibilities
- Build and evolve the Elastic MCP server and its supporting infrastructure, primarily in Go
- Build the platform for universal agent skills, including portable formats, authoring and publishing tools, and linting
- Establish correctness through evaluations for skills and tools
- Design and deliver integrations for third-party AI ecosystems in collaboration with product teams and external partners
- Contribute to the Elastic CLI to improve developer and agent efficiency
- Develop, maintain, and support Elastic Stack libraries, tools, and integrations using Go, Rust, and other languages
- Provide product input and help determine what the team should build and why
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience working on backend systems, services, or libraries
- Significant recent experience with Go and ideally other programming languages
- Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks and working knowledge of LLMs, agents, agent skills, and protocols such as MCP
- Knowledge of client-server networking, HTTP, and RESTful APIs
- Ability to contribute to unfamiliar codebases and learn multiple programming languages
- Understanding of software engineering best practices
- Strong product thinking, developer experience focus, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote, globally distributed team
- Experience building or operating infrastructure and interest in telemetry and observability are preferred
- Open source, technical community, third-party partner engineering, or Elastic product experience is preferred
