Responsibilities

  • Design and develop AI-powered applications using LLMs, Generative AI, and machine learning.
  • Build AI copilots, AI agents, and RAG solutions for software engineering, testing, documentation, and operational workflows.
  • Develop intelligent automation for test case generation, defect analysis, knowledge management, predictive analytics, and process optimization.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise applications, REST APIs, Azure cloud services, and DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and rapidly develop proofs of concept.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, testers, business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and customers.
  • Ensure AI solutions meet VA cybersecurity, privacy, accessibility, and Trustworthy AI requirements.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines and deliver high-quality customer deliverables.
  • Create, edit, maintain, and quality-check presentations, diagrams, technical publications, user guides, process documentation, training materials, and instructional supplements.
  • Develop consistent templates and documentation styles and use AI to improve documentation, design, and training functions.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required for VA contract eligibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of overall software engineering experience.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience developing AI, machine learning, or Generative AI solutions.
  • Strong Python programming experience.
  • Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, or similar LLM platforms.
  • Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or comparable AI frameworks.
  • Experience building RAG applications and AI agents.
  • Experience developing REST APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, and cloud-native development.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting the VA or other federal agencies is preferred.
  • Healthcare IT, EHRM, VistA, Oracle Health Millennium, FHIR, or HL7 experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Azure AI Studio, Azure Machine Learning, vector databases, and prompt engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, Responsible AI, and federal AI governance is preferred.
  • Current Moderate Background Investigation and VA network access are preferred.
