Responsibilities
- Design and build synchronization and metadata-handling logic for UniFi Drive across local and cloud environments.
- Develop platform-integrated file experiences using macOS system behaviors and APIs.
- Solve change-coordination, device-consistency, and other edge cases across environments.
- Collaborate with backend and infrastructure teams on data models, APIs, and end-to-end reliability.
- Partner with product and design teams to translate user workflows into robust technical solutions.
- Improve system performance, stability, and maintainability through measurement, profiling, and iterative refinement.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent experience building and shipping production systems.
- Hands-on development experience on Apple platforms, including macOS and/or iOS, with familiarity with production workflows.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and the ability to reason about complex system behavior and trade-offs.
- Ability to decompose ambiguous problems and make thoughtful engineering decisions.
- Solid programming skills in Swift or Objective-C.
- Proficiency with Git and modern collaborative development workflows.
- Preferred experience with macOS file I/O, processes, concurrency, and memory management.
- Preferred experience with networked or asynchronous systems, including REST APIs, WebSocket, WebRTC, or similar mechanisms.
- Preferred experience implementing synchronization or data-coordination workflows.
- Preferred background in storage, backup, NAS, hybrid local-cloud environments, or data-heavy systems.
- Preferred experience optimizing performance, memory usage, or I/O-heavy workflows and debugging subtle production issues.
