Responsibilities

  • Assess observability maturity, identify monitoring gaps, and establish approaches across application, infrastructure, cloud, networking, storage, and platform architectures.
  • Define and maintain enterprise observability standards, guidelines, tagging approaches, telemetry standards, alerting methods, and service health perspectives.
  • Recommend and build monitoring, telemetry, alerting, dashboard, service health, and operational reporting solutions.
  • Define meaningful Service Level Indicators and support teams in establishing Service Level Objectives.
  • Guide engineering teams in implementing observability with Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, or equivalent technologies.
  • Use Dynatrace Query Language to examine telemetry and generate operational insights.
  • Lead technical discussions, workshops, reviews, and mentorship across engineering teams.
  • Support observability for hybrid cloud, enterprise networking, batch processing, scheduled workloads, and CI/CD platforms.
  • Participate in production support and a paid on-call rota for high-impact incident response.

Requirements

  • At least 14 years of experience in observability, monitoring, Site Reliability Engineering, platform engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience defining monitoring strategies and observability solutions for enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Dynatrace as an enterprise observability platform.
  • Experience with Dynatrace Grail and Dynatrace Query Language.
  • Experience developing dashboards, service health views, alerts, and operational reporting.
  • Good understanding of OpenTelemetry instrumentation, collectors, and telemetry pipelines.
  • Experience with multiple listed technologies, including AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, VMware, NetApp Storage, Jenkins, Terraform, Kubernetes, Linux, and enterprise networking.
  • OpenStack monitoring experience is a preferred qualification.
