Base Salary
$185k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build applications and interactive tools for experiment configuration, execution monitoring, result visualization, and metadata capture.
- Integrate instrument capabilities and improve shared interfaces for applications and scripts in partnership with the SDK engineer.
- Separate reusable experiment logic from presentation code to support interactive and automated workflows.
- Implement failure handling, cancellation, recovery, logging, and testing.
- Connect application outputs to data services with clear metadata and version information.
- Contribute to backend services, data integration, developer tooling, CI, packaging, and other stack priorities.
- Diagnose issues beyond the UI and collaborate on performance, concurrency, native code, and hardware interface problems.
- Work with scientists and engineers to understand workflows, ship initial versions, and improve them through use.
- Own changes through review, release, documentation, and follow-up.
Requirements
- Strong coding and debugging fundamentals with examples of completed software that others used.
- Experience building applications, services, or tools and curiosity about adjacent system layers.
- Comfort using APIs, writing tests, version control, and code review.
- Practical approach to learning unfamiliar systems and asking for help early.
- Attention to clear user workflows, trustworthy data, and understandable failure behavior.
- Interest in broad startup responsibilities and concrete project ownership.
