Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance, scalable, and reliable hypervisor and systems software.
- Improve virtual machine live migration speed and predictability and develop reboot-free or more reliable hypervisor upgrade approaches.
- Participate in design discussions and support solutions with research, metrics, and detailed technical reasoning.
- Write and maintain enterprise-quality code and contribute improvements to open-source community projects.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Assist with occasional customer escalations and rare outage investigations.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience building and delivering enterprise-grade software.
- Strong operating-system and systems fundamentals, including low-level coding and debugging experience with at least one hardware architecture, preferably x86.
- Ability to write and maintain enterprise-quality code and break down abstract concepts into actionable solutions.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Knowledge of x86 virtualization and the KVM stack is preferred.
- Contributions to the Linux kernel or virtualization stack are preferred.
- Excellent communication and writing skills and the ability to mentor junior engineers.
