Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable Java services for the merchandising platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design backend systems and APIs.
- Partner with product managers and data scientists to solve technical challenges.
- Improve and scale data pipelines for heuristics and ML applications.
- Contribute to architectural decisions for system reliability and performance.
- Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence within the squad.
- Support production systems to ensure observability and resilience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building backend systems using Java.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and experience with distributed systems.
- Experience designing and scaling cloud-native services on GCP or AWS.
- Comfortable designing APIs and translating requirements into solutions.
- Experience with high-volume production services and performance optimization.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and drive initiatives.
- Growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with technologies like gRPC, BigQuery, and ML-driven systems is beneficial.
