Base Salary

$205k - $225k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate core syndi-api runtime surfaces including the agent loop, tool execution and registry, memory, and context management.
  • Grow the evaluation system with offline gates and online detector and judge evaluations based on production traces.
  • Own production observability, incident response, and reliability for the customer-facing agent surface.
  • Review product teams’ tool wrappers and evaluations and evolve the GET /tools registry and drift-detection contract.
  • Clarify, design, and implement compliance and legal requirements for Syndi.
  • Collaborate with product teams from API design through evaluation sign-off and carry the on-call pager for shipped systems.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building production backend systems.
  • Deep comfort with Python, relational stores, and cloud infrastructure, with experience using GCP and Kubernetes.
  • Experience building LLM-powered systems in production, such as agent loops, tool-calling integrations, RAG, or evaluation infrastructure.
  • Ability to design for operability, including legal compliance, tracing, evaluations, and kill switches.
  • Ability to own a technical domain with light supervision, propose direction through written API specifications, incorporate review, ship, and support deployed systems.
  • Strong written communication for design documentation and cross-team pull request review.
  • Preferred experience with platform/product relationships, SSE or streaming systems, compliance-adjacent engineering, data minimization, auditability, or prior Staff-level scope.
