Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based backend services, GraphQL APIs, RESTful services, and event-driven integrations for the Carrier Shipment platform.
- Lead product, design, architecture, code review, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and production support activities.
- Design and maintain resilient integrations with upstream and downstream systems using APIs, messaging platforms, and event-driven architecture.
- Improve reliability, scalability, observability, telemetry, monitoring, operational resilience, deployment automation, and release quality.
- Mentor engineers, guide technical decisions, support junior peers, and communicate technical vision and actionable plans.
- Drive automation, modernization, technical debt reduction, security improvements, domain modeling, API design, and engineering productivity initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 9+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting enterprise applications.
- Experience with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, object-oriented programming, software design principles, data structures, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing and integrating GraphQL APIs, RESTful services, event-driven solutions, messaging platforms, and enterprise systems.
- Experience with Kafka, Avro, Maven, JUnit, Hibernate/JPA, SQL, relational database design, and performance optimization.
- Experience writing unit, integration, API, and automated tests and improving CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
- Experience with Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps or similar platforms, cloud-native application concepts, observability, monitoring, logging, telemetry, and operational support.
- Knowledge of authentication, authorization, OAuth2, JWT, application security, and secure software development practices.
- Experience troubleshooting applications across development, testing, and production environments and contributing to design reviews, architectural discussions, requirements analysis, and solution design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, technical leadership, and mentoring abilities.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar tools.
- Experience in logistics, transportation, freight movement, or supply chain domains is preferred.
