Responsibilities
- Define and document software requirements and high-level software architecture for connected electronic products.
- Select MCUs with hardware teams while balancing performance and cost.
- Participate in DFMEA, define software safety requirements, and develop resilient safety designs.
- Define security requirements and implement secure architecture features including authentication, encryption, secure boot, and OTA updates.
- Integrate BLE/Wi-Fi connectivity and secure cloud communication.
- Size work packages, evaluate alternative solutions, and facilitate stakeholder decisions.
- Guide and mentor internal software teams and JDM suppliers through design, implementation, and validation.
- Lead design reviews, enforce coding and testing standards, assure code quality, and validate supplier-developed software.
- Maintain technical oversight throughout development and drive improvements to working practices and function effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, telecommunication, or computer engineering, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of embedded systems software development experience covering requirements analysis, design, coding, and testing.
- At least 3 years of software architecture experience.
- Advanced proficiency in C, C++, UML, RTOS, and/or embedded Linux.
- Strong understanding of MCU architecture and experience with MCU selection and hardware/software co-design.
- Extensive experience with I2C, SPI, UART, MQTT, DIPC, Wi-Fi, BLE, NFC, and HTTPS.
- Experience with cloud integration, OTA firmware updates, secure provisioning, secure coding, authentication, encryption, and secure boot.
- Exposure to DFMEA, safety analysis, software safety standards, secure software architecture, regulatory compliance, and product certification.
- Experience with requirements management, version control using Git, coding standards, testing strategies, and software validation.
- Strong stakeholder communication, technical documentation, supplier guidance, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
