Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate a planet-scale, highly scalable, performant, and resilient storage layer.
- Develop and maintain automation for storage-layer logging, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Use Hadoop, Spark, Aerospike, and Kafka to enhance and optimize existing systems.
- Participate in complex security system designs and mentor junior teammates.
- Own large projects and components as a senior technical contributor.
- Champion process and procedure improvements across the team and division.
- Influence team direction and foster accountability, trust, and focus on goals.
Requirements
- Experience building, maintaining, and troubleshooting open-source distributed storage solutions such as Ceph and storage orchestrators such as Rook at scale in highly automated environments.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management tools such as Salt, Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
- Experience with storage-level replication technologies.
- Strong experience with capacity planning, disaster recovery, and monitoring.
- Strong operations foundation and experience solving complex problems, building solutions, and handling production issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively across teams, prioritize competing tasks, and work rigorously with globally distributed systems.
