Responsibilities
- Develop IT systems supporting Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities division, including Fixed Income and Equities businesses.
- Build data integration and feeding solutions that process hundreds of gigabytes daily and meet throughput, resiliency, and SLA requirements.
- Participate across the system lifecycle, including requirements gathering, user-story refinement, solution design, coding, and support for user questions.
- Develop regulatory scenario calculations requested by the Market Risk Department.
- Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Work across Java, Scala, Python, data management systems, Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines, and legacy or in-house frameworks.
Requirements
- Minimum two years of development experience in Java or Scala.
- Willingness to learn the other language when needed.
- Object-oriented design skills and understanding of, or interest in, functional programming concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and communicate effectively in English.
- Willingness to understand, maintain, and enhance other developers’ code, including legacy code and wider components.
- Knowledge of data engineering, architecture, and data modeling is a plus.
- Spring, Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, pull requests, and JIRA experience are advantages.
- Prior financial product knowledge is advantageous but not required.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant IT or engineering field is advantageous.
