Base Salary
$280k - $314k/yr
Responsibilities
- Learn Vapi’s architecture, production environment, incident history, and reliability practices, then deliver an initial operational or reliability improvement.
- Own a reliability workstream spanning observability, incident response, capacity, performance, or production automation.
- Build software tooling and automation that reduces manual operational work and improves failure detection, understanding, and response.
- Become the go-to owner for a meaningful part of Vapi’s reliability surface and deliver durable improvements to failure prevention or recovery.
- Propose a roadmap for future reliability investments and balance reliability work with product and engineering velocity.
Requirements
- Senior or staff-level software engineering experience with meaningful SRE, production engineering, or infrastructure experience in distributed systems.
- Experience writing production-quality software and independently building reliability tooling or automation.
- Deep experience with observability, incident response, failure analysis, capacity, and production reliability practices.
- Comfort with Kubernetes, networking, cloud infrastructure, and debugging across application and infrastructure boundaries.
- Ability to reason clearly about failure modes and prioritize reliability investments.
- Experience with real-time networking or telephony, Envoy, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, Aurora, ClickHouse, or a Google-style SRE environment is a strong plus.
