Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve core banking capabilities for products, accounts, transactions, transfers, journals, balances, interest, workflows, and compliance controls.
  • Define reliable APIs, events, and data contracts for a coherent and auditable banking platform.
  • Own services across design, implementation, testing, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in on-call and incident response across distributed services, data infrastructure, and event-driven workflows.
  • Establish observability, alerting, operational controls, recovery procedures, and reliability improvements.
  • Design systems for correctness, auditability, scalability, resilience, and enterprise banking scale.
  • Improve automated testing, CI/CD, safe deployment, rollback, recovery, and production-engineering practices.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering, MCP servers, agent workflows, and automated runbooks where beneficial.
  • Mentor and coach teammates and promote engineering best practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • Deep experience designing and building complex distributed systems at scale with a strongly typed, compiled language; Go is preferred and comparable languages are acceptable.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and technologies such as Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms.
  • Strong understanding of concurrency, consistency, invariants, idempotency, failure modes, and distributed-system trade-offs.
  • Substantial experience operating and debugging critical production systems, ideally across application, data, and infrastructure boundaries.
  • Practical experience with observability, reliability engineering, capacity planning, deployment safety, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, GitOps, and modern production-engineering practices.
  • Ability to evaluate and clearly communicate architectural trade-offs and explain complex systems precisely.
  • Ability to work across coding, architecture, operations, and cross-team delivery while retaining ownership of design, validation, security, and production outcomes.

Benefits

  • Full-time experienced hire position.
  • High autonomy and accountability within a small, senior team.
  • Startup-level technical depth and ownership combined with enterprise resources, stability, and long-term impact at FIS.
