Responsibilities
- Translate functional requirements into technical solutions and contribute to user-needs analysis, feasibility studies, technical specifications, estimation, and scope commitments.
- Design and develop functionality across multiple components of the 3DCS platform, primarily using C++ for the engine, GUI, and tooling layers.
- Document code, maintain technical documentation, and use the provided development, build, version control, and defect-tracking tools.
- Define and execute test protocols, regression tests, and numerical accuracy checks, and perform evolutive and corrective maintenance.
- Provide Level 3 support for customer issues and participate in release piloting and customer validation.
- Identify architectural risks and escalate significant changes for review by the Technical Lead or Principal Software Engineer.
- Participate in code reviews, propose technical improvements, share knowledge, support new joiners, and mentor an apprentice or intern.
- Collaborate with Product Management, application engineering, external OEM and technology partners, and globally distributed teams.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Software or Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field; a Bachelor's degree with equivalent demonstrated experience is also considered.
- At least three years of professional software development experience in languages used by commercial software products.
- Strong object-oriented design ability and working proficiency in a compiled language, with proficiency in C++ or demonstrated ability to reach it.
- Mastery of software development methods, tooling, and the software development lifecycle, including version control, continuous integration, defect tracking, and automated testing.
- Ability to work across several components of a long-lived commercial code base and acquire working knowledge of its structure.
- Evidence of learning an unfamiliar technical domain to a working level, along with strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, teaching, and knowledge-sharing skills.
- Advantageous qualifications include dimensional engineering, GD&T to ASME Y14.5 or ISO GPS, tolerance analysis, variation simulation, computational geometry, linear algebra, statistics, Monte Carlo methods, numerical solvers, CAD or geometry-kernel integration, multithreaded and cross-platform development, manufacturing and assembly knowledge, and performance-critical numerical code.
