Base Salary
$195k - $343k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction and multi-quarter and multi-year roadmap for Snap’s Service Infrastructure platform.
- Design, build, and operate foundational backend and distributed infrastructure for critical services at scale.
- Lead ambiguous, high-impact technical initiatives from concept and architecture through implementation, rollout, and iteration.
- Improve developer and operator experience through durable systems, abstractions, and platform mechanisms.
- Drive best practices in reliability, observability, incident response, system performance, and cost efficiency.
- Partner with infrastructure and product teams on technical direction, priorities, trade-offs, and platform investments.
- Mentor engineers, provide technical leadership across team boundaries, and resolve complex technical conflicts.
- Identify responsible opportunities to apply AI to platform quality, developer productivity, and operational workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 9 years of software development experience, or 8 years with a technical master’s degree, or 5 years with a related PhD.
- Experience serving as a technical lead, domain expert, or owner of complex technical initiatives.
- Experience building and operating backend or distributed systems in production.
- Experience leading architecture or platform direction beyond an individual team and influencing partner teams.
- Deep experience with backend services or distributed systems at significant scale.
- Strong system design knowledge covering APIs, service architecture, compute platforms, storage concepts, observability, and workflow orchestration.
- Preferred experience with service infrastructure, large-scale microservices, cloud infrastructure, storage systems, platform architecture, Kubernetes, containerized systems, developer platforms, or internal infrastructure tooling.
- Preferred experience with Go, Java, Python, C++, or similar backend languages.
- Experience applying AI to infrastructure, developer tooling, platform quality, or engineering productivity is a plus.
